I thought I slipped through at Stage 0, just a bump in the road is how my doctor described it but when I started feeling something again a year after my bilateral mastectomy, it wasn't just a bump in the road anymore, it was a full-on detour through the rockiest, hardest years of my life.
I got the "full" experience. Chemo, radiation, forced menopause and 2 surgeries later, treatment took a toll on my mind, body, my energy, my identity. I lost my hair. I lost parts of myself. But through that loss, I also discovered resilience, clarity, and a deeper appreciation for my body and everything it’s carried me through.
