I started Sanara during a very low moment. I was 8 years into a corporate healthcare career, burnt out and sad, just needing an outlet. I taught myself how to make soap, and I fell madly in love with the slow process—the science of turning oils into soap, the art of choosing colors and scents. It felt so "witchy" and restorative.
I had hundreds of bars of soap curing that my husband challenged me to sell them. Challenge accepted. I’m sure he just wanted to recoup the thousands of dollars I accidently spent on all these herbs, clays, essential oils and butters. Nine years later though, my products are used in luxury spas like Four Seasons, Omni, and Auberge Resorts.
It just snowballed from there because after the soap, I just had to create a body oil. I wanted a really good one, not the kind that stays with you far longer than it should. I was inspired by my favorite body care lines, but I wanted to add a Latin twist. I wanted to create a luxurious oil that felt light and smelled like a day at the spa, with potent, luxurious ingredients like Chilean Rosehip, Jojoba, and Vitamin E.

As my beliefs grew, so did Sanara. My daily routine of using my soap bar and then drenching myself in my body oil became my Ritual.
And then, this Ritual led me to a higher purpose. I began to use it to pay closer attention to my body, to the glide of my hand and whether or not I felt any lumps or bumps. I trusted my intuition, and for six years, I would check and seek answers if I felt anything.
Then, in January 2021, I felt something that set off an alarm and it didn't go away. This Ritual had guided me and given me the body awareness I needed. A few months later, I was diagnosed with Stage 0 Ductal Carcinoma In Situ.
I didn’t have a name for this Ritual for the longest time. But now, I know, before I even had a name for it, it was my spirit guides leading me. It was my way to connect with my body and feel empowered to seek my truth.
