There is a quote I come back to often, usually when I am standing in the middle of a major life shift, feeling the ground move beneath my feet:

"If I'm not evolving, I'm dead."

In nature, things that stop growing begin to decay. Stagnation isn't safety; it’s the end. And I believe the same is true for our spirits, our identities, and yes—our businesses.

When I first launched Sanara, my mission was clear and functional. Suffering from Psoriasis since my teens, I wanted to create body care that not only relieved my symptoms but did something inside me when I put it on.

Could it finally make me feel beautiful?

As a born and raised Texan of Mexican descent from West Texas, born from a migrant family, I wanted to diversify the beauty market. I wanted to create beauty rituals powered by indigenous Latin American botanicals because I didn’t see my culture or my region represented on the luxury shelf.

If you dream it, you can be it.

Our mission was to empower women to engage in wellness through self-care and skin health.

And that mission was beautiful. It was necessary. But over the last few years, something changed.

I changed.

Life happened. And by "life," I mean the storms. The kind of storms that knock the wind out of you and make "skincare" feel trivial but make "care" feel vital.

I went through experiences that left me feeling unmoored, exhausted, and isolated. In those moments, I wasn’t looking for "beauty." I wasn't looking to simply "engage in wellness."

I was looking for an anchor. I was looking for a sanctuary.

From Beauty to Sanctuary

Despite the beautiful products and ingredients, I was sharing, Sanara didn’t take off as fast as I had dreamed it would. First, due to a pandemic I could never have planned for. Then, followed by two breast cancer diagnoses that still rear their ugly heads two years later with a foggy brain, exhaustion, pain, fear, and doubt.

Living through these experiences while building Sanara, I realized that Sanara serves a woman who is dealing with more than just dry skin. She is dealing with a noisy world, a heavy mental load, and the exhaustion of trying to be everything to everyone.

She doesn't just need a lotion; she needs a moment of peace.

So, just as I have evolved, Sanara is evolving with me.

Our New Mission:

To provide a sanctuary for the weary, using the wisdom of Latin American botanicals to anchor women through life’s storms.

Sanara exists to turn the isolation of hardship into a shared ritual of healing, connection, and deep, embodied rest.

What This Means

You will notice a shift in how we talk. We are moving from the surface to the soul.

  • The Roots Remain: We are still rooted in the healing power of Latin American botanicals. Sanara still comes from the Spanish word sanará, meaning "you will heal." That sentiment is now truer than ever.
  • The Depth Increases: We aren’t just talking about "skin health" anymore. We are talking about "embodied rest." We are talking about using these rituals to reclaim yourself when the world tries to drain you.
  • The Isolation Ends: Hardship often makes us feel alone. Our new mission focuses on shared ritual. We want Sanara to be a reminder that you are part of a lineage of women who have healed, survived, and bloomed before you.

The Becoming

This evolution isn’t a rebranding; it’s a becoming.

It is me, stepping fully into the truth of what this brand has always been: A place to soften your armor.

If you are tired, if you are weary, if you are navigating your own storms—you are safe here. We aren't just selling oil anymore. We are building a sanctuary.

I often wonder: if Sanara had taken off so fast, would she be who she is today?

Welcome to Sanara.

Con cariño,

Rebekah Founder, Sanara
